Bali Trip Length: How Many Days for Seminyak and Ubud?

One of the most common questions when planning a trip to Bali is how many days you actually need — the island packs beaches, rice terraces, ancient temples, and photogenic cafes into opposite ends of it. To properly cover both Seminyak and Ubud, plan for at least 5-6 days.
Why split your time between two zones
Bali has two very distinct personalities. The coast around Seminyak is all beaches, beach bars, and international restaurants, while inland Ubud is about nature, rice terraces, and a calmer pace suited to actually unwinding. Splitting the trip into two legs lets you experience both without rushing through either.

Days 1-3: base yourself in Seminyak
Spend the first stretch in Seminyak — morning beach walks, a beginner surf lesson, or coffee at a beachside cafe watching the sunset. At night the area comes alive with bars and restaurants open late, ideal if you want a relaxed trip without early mornings.
Days 4-5 (or 6): head inland to Ubud
Then move inland to Ubud, roughly 1-1.5 hours away, to see the classic green rice terraces, walk through the Sacred Monkey Forest, or browse a local art market for handmade souvenirs. It's noticeably quieter than the coast — perfect for recharging before heading home.
Getting into town from Ngurah Rai Airport
From Ngurah Rai International Airport, a taxi or transfer to Seminyak takes about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Heading straight to Ubud from the airport takes roughly 1.5-2 hours. Book a transfer in advance so you're not haggling over price right after landing.
What to eat on a Bali trip
Try nasi goreng and Balinese-style satay at local warungs, or an organic restaurant in Ubud known for healthy dishes with rice-terrace views. Over in Seminyak, fresh seafood restaurants right on the beach are perfect for a sunset dinner.
