3-Day Chiang Mai Nature Itinerary — Where to Go

Chiang Mai suits nature lovers and anyone who enjoys cool weather. Over 3 days and 2 nights, you can cover temples, mountains, and outdoor activities without feeling rushed.
Day 1: Doi Suthep Temple and Nimman
Start day one at Doi Suthep Temple for a panoramic view over Chiang Mai, then head to Nimmanhaemin in the evening for a stroll. If you'd like to stay in this neighborhood for easy access to cafés and restaurants, click Book a hotel in Nimmanhaemin to check availability and rates.

Day 2: Head up the mountains for cool air
Day two is perfect for a mountain trip — Mon Cham or Doi Inthanon both stay cool all day and offer plenty of great photo spots.
Day 3: Morning market and souvenirs
On your last morning, stop by Warorot Market (Kad Luang), an old downtown market selling fresh goods, dried goods, and local souvenirs — a spot for cheaper gifts than the usual tourist strips before you head to your next destination.

Local food you shouldn't miss
While in Chiang Mai, try khao soi, nam prik num with pork crackling, and rich sai ua sausage. Great spots are scattered across the old city and the Nimmanhaemin area — you could eat your way through a whole day without repeating a restaurant.
Before you go
From December to January, nighttime temperatures can drop into the single digits Celsius — pack warm layers, especially if you're heading up Doi Inthanon. Around March–April, haze can be an issue, so check air quality before planning outdoor activities.
